Closure of Bordesley Station

Network Rail is proposing to close Bordesley station in June 2029. A consultation document has been published and is available at Bordesley railway station closure consultation.

Since 2007, the station has only been served by one timetabled service per week and by a limited number of services when there is a match at St Andrews football ground. However, Birmingham City FC is due to move to a new stadium near Adderley Park station, on the line between Birmingham New Street and Coventry, in time for the 2030-2031 season.

The closure of Bordesley station would facilitate the construction of the Midlands Rail Hub, by permitting the building of two chords, which would allow trains from the direction of Kings Norton and the East Midlands to access Moor St and Snow Hill stations, thereby alleviating congestion at New St.

The deadline for responses to the consultation proposal is 15 May 2026.
